Message from Your Board of Directors

2014-jan-guest5… From the Editor

As George mentioned, we are in process of changing the chapter operation and board. We are also in process of
changing our communication assets and how we use them. As such, as Vice President of the Communication
Committee and Newsletter Editor, I would like to take the opportunity to orientate our membership to our communication assets and how you can volunteer and become part of the process.

Our first asset is the Newsletter. This is our monthly communication vehicle in which we bring an update of the activities in each of the portfolios. We also have several articles, welcome our newest members, provide contact
information for each of the board members and advertise upcoming events. On a shorter time frame, we publish the Weekly Scope. The Weekly Scope provides you a quick preview of the upcoming week’s scheduled activities as well as links to the website for other upcoming events. The side-bar on the Weekly Scope gives you hotlinks for further
details on our website. The SOC-PMI website at http://soc.pmi.on.ca/ is our largest communication asset. It contains a vast amount of information. This year we will performing a redesign, so this is you opportunity to get
involved in the chapter! Volunteering is a very rewarding experience in so many ways – giving back to an organization that give so much to you, networking and of course, PDUs for your service. We have recently added
two new volunteers to our website team and we are actively looking for more volunteers, so send me an e-mail at editor@soc.pmi.on.ca if you are interested in website design, development or QA!

Here are some helpful links to help you get started in exploring our website:

Our last Communication asset is our Social Media. We have a presence on LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter.
This is exciting, expanding new territory and we are looking for volunteers to join the Social Media team.
As George said, why not volunteer so you can have a say and help shape the Chapter?

To that end, we are always looking for volunteers. I have several postings open on Volunteer Relationship
Management System (VRMS) – here is the link: vrms.pmi.org/OpportunitySearch/OpportunitySearch –
check the link periodically as new opportunities are added weekly, or, if you have an idea for a volunteer
role contact me and let’s see if we can create it for you!
